HTB were again delighted to take to the stage for the annual 'Brass on the Grass' in Constantine. The band, along with Camborne, St Keverne and Pendennis Bands, each performed a their own programme before all taking part in the ever popular massed band finale.
The band, under new MD Darren Hendy began their programme with the famous march The Contestor, this was followed by a rendition of the James Bond Collection featuring solo trombonist Lester Ashton and percussionist Simon Taylor. The very talented Sean Sjoholm then beautifully performed the soprano solo Demelza to large applause from the audience.
HTB then performed a moving rendition of the classic hymn tune Deep Harmony, featuring the band’s new Principal Cornet Jasmine Ryder-Pollard before finishing their set with the rousing tone poem Lady Stewarts Air. As an added bonus for the audience the band played the up-tempo Birdland, finishing with huge applause really emphasising the progress the band have made under Darren in recent months.
HTB then returned to perform along with Camborne, Pendennis and St Keverne for the ‘Proms’ style finale. The massed bands played Trewlaney, Land of Hope and Glory, rounding off another fantastic evening with the Floral Dance.
